Indian Red Cross Society, Pune runs a thalassemia clinic at its facility in Rasta Peth. A large number of children avail the benefit of their services which includes facilities for blood transfusion. Art India Foundation proposed art projects for the benefit of the children undergoing treatment for thalassemia at this clinic. The management of the Indian Red Cross Society readily agreed to the project concept. The first part was to set up a display in digital format of artworks by other children. This display was made operational in June 2022. This meant that children who are at the clinic get to see images of beautiful artworks by other children and young adults. This inspires them to become creators. Art supplies have been kept at the clinic so that the children who are at the clinic can draw and paint. This art initiative got started in June 2022 and children have responded very positively. Every day at the thalassemia clinic, new paintings by children with thalassemia are being created.
